Fellas;

I'm trying to build a rifle I've wanted for quite some time. Trying to find a 6.5 Swedish Mauser with a left-hand-bolt is like trying to find snowballs in, well you know where.

So, I've come up with a Winchester new model 70 classic stainless action. What I need is a Winchester stainless 6.5 Swede barrel. If anybody either knows where one is, or would care to sell me one, I'd be grateful. You'd really help me complete a gun that's been on my want list for years.

I know the barrels are out there, I've seen stainless 6.5 Swede barrels on right handed actions.

Truly not being a jerk here but why don't you just buy a 6.5 bore barrel and have a local gunsmith thread, install and chamber it? Most qualified gunsmiths have lathes that can handle such undertakings. Should they balk about reamer cost, remind them that rental reamers are availible.

Pac Nor will chamber and install one of their barrels on your action in just about any cartridge you want. The 6.5x55 is a std chambering and prices run ~$350 for barrel, installation included. They are very good barrels and the service and work is 1st rate. There are others companies/smiths out there that do similar work at similar prices and quality, and as stated your neighborhood smith likely will do it as well. The quality of Pac Nor is well respected on the various forums and if your smith is a unknown it may pay to ship it out for work.

Fella's;

Why don't I just buy an aftermarket barrel? I'm well aware that that's probably the way I'm going to have to go, but I'd rather have it all Winchester if possible.

I'm also well aware of the many firms that are willing to do the work. I've got a good smith locally who will put the barrel into the action, whether it be a Winchester or more likely, a Lilja.

Just looking for a stainless Winchester 6.5 Swede barrel, thanks.

I guess I'd have to suggest gunshows first and calling every gunsmith you can find to see if they have any "take off" barrels so chambered.
