The large pistol primers are both shorter, AND thinner. If seated to the bottom of the primer pocket, they might be too low to get a good hit with the firing pin. But that's the good news. The bad news if you're using them with a normal powder for a normal bullet weight, they'll possibly pierce, the FP dent or fail at the edge of the cup. Both could badly damage the bolt face due to very hot powder gasses escaping the hole.
Get some large rifle primers, keep those pistol primers for if you ever load for hand guns.
