Got myself what appears to be a sweet little 16 inch Trapper in .44-40 and would like to authenticate it. I know form "OldGuns" that it is a 1925 date but would like to get one of these "letters" everyone talks about.

When I go to Winchester - they forward me to the Cody Museum. Is this "The Letter" everyone refers to? IMG_1038.JPG
Thanks, Todd.

Well, I've contacted the Cody Museum and due to my carbine's date/serial number, the only records they have are the date of serial number assignment. This I already know. While searching, I came across George Madis' estate as being a possible source of info but now cannot find the contact link (thought I'd saved it!) nor has a general internet search returned any contact info.

How about his estate? Is it still in the info business and if so, how do I contact them?

Thanks, Todd.
