Winchester M70 - are the new ones out yet?

Has anyone seen the new Model 70s on the shelves yet? I have seen a few featherweights on gunbroker. No standard versions.

Why get one of the new ones when you can get an (old) one? I have two and i would not part with them

Winchester has a few models available. Stainless, Featherweight, standard and a super grade. There produced by Fn in their Columbia, South Carolina plant where they made their licenced FN copy rifles(same actions just stamped fn on the side.) I have two classic stainless's that are both chambered in .30-06, one is a 24 w/o a boss and the other is a 22 w/boss. Both were relativily cheap and are both tack drivers.

All we ever got in this part of the country is Featherweights. I fondled the ones we had and the fit and finish looked pretty good compared to the old ones. The finish on the wood appears to have no depth compared to the New Haven guns. The trigger is nicer but all in all they didn't change much. I collect Winchesters and they left me ........uninspired. As far as I'm concerned they can keep em. The market has passed them by with a lot of new younger shooters having little knowledge of the M70 legend. Bottom line...for $900-$1000 I'd rather have several other guns way before the new M70 And that's coming from someone who collects pre 64's. I'd rather get on Gunbroker and find a NIB New Haven gun for the same money. YMMV

Forgot to add. The Featherweights at my gunshop were there for over a month before selling. After all the wait and hype you'd think the first ones they get would go fast.

I wouldn't buy a Winchester until I was sure who was manufacturing it. The last Winchester model 70 that I bought just before they closed down was such poor quality that after I got it home, I packed it up and took it back and got a Savage instead.

The FN examples I handled did NOT have the poor fit & finish of the New Haven guns right before they went belly up. They did seem a little plain or boring to be honest. Like I said the finish on the wood seemed....cheaper. No depth.
