I have a Winchester mod 52. the serial number indicates it was made in 1935. I am trying to determine what series it is, B, C, or D. it has the original folding ladder style rear sight and a hooded post front sight. the stock is the beavertail style with no finger groove, the barrel has a slight taper but still heavy and scope mount blocks are attached. I don't believe this to be a sporter, as I would not want to lug it afield. the stock is in good shape and all metal retains 90% blueing. sling swivels and original leather sling are in good shape.

A 1935 Model 52 is probably a 52A. Blue Book says the 52B came out in 1940
Does it have a prominent checkered cocking knob sort of like a 1903 Springfield?
If so, it is a basic M52. If it has a streamlined bolt shroud with only a large screw head, it is a 52A "Speedlock."

It sounds like an "A", but pictures would help. If you want a detailed rundown, post pictures on the Winchester 52 forum on www.rimfirecentral.com.
