Is there anyone who can explain the process of sighting this rifle in accurately using published data on the Silvertip 150gr bullets?

From everything I've read, given the trajectory of the bullet I should sight it in at 100 yards 2.5" high. Is this correct? Can anyone explain to me how I arrive at this on my own should I try a 180 grain in the future?

Your help is appreciated. I can't find a decent reference on the web.

If I can assume your rifle has a scope sight, first sight the rifle at the point where the bullet first crosses the line of sight, in your case about 30 yards. Using a rest (if at all possible), hold on the center of the bull and fire a shot. Do this a total of three times letting the barrel cool between shots and mark the center of the three shot group. Now re-center the bull in the scope and using the scope adjusters, without moving the rifle, move the crosshairs to the marked center of the three shot group. I usually fire another shot at the short target at this point to verify my settings and make any adjustments.
Now you're ready to try the 100 yard target. Make adjustments as necessary, but remember that the clicks on the adjusters have almost 4 times the effect at 100 yards. If you adjusted well, you should now be about 2.4 inches high at 100 yards, 3 inches high at 160 yards, dead on at 275 yards, and 3 inches low at about 325 yards. This gives a point blank range of 325 yards for a 6 inch high kill zone.
Remember to allow for windage, a 10 mph crosswind will change the point of impact 0.6 inches at 100 yards for this load.
