I was in walmart today and came across a Winchester model 70 .270, I came home to do a little research on it and cant find the exact one that I saw at the store? It is all black with a "W" on the side, all I find on the net is the newer models.

I was curious if anyone can give me a little info on what this rifle is, I mean I know its a model 70 but what one? Coyote lite? stealth II? I cannot find it anywhere on the net, I think it might be discontinued?

Its on clearance for $325, is this a mega deal or what?

Buy it if you have the $$. They are not being made anymore and that is a good deal.

It's probably the black shadow.

Oh and it comes with an 8 point 3-9X40 simmons scope.

Yea thats what it looks like but with a W on the side

probably a wallyworld oddball special, especially if it is a packaged deal with a scope.

walmart drives its suppliers to deliver lower and lower prices, so gunmakers often look for great deals on slightly odd or different bits. Not necessarily BAD stuff, just think normally X gun will have a 20 inch barrel, but for some reason there was a great deal on 18.5 inch barrels that some european firm ordered but couldn't pay for, so some other gun company buys em cheap, puts them on a standard action and sells em to walmart

Akodo is probably right. For years (maybe still?) WW sold Beretta AL390s at hundreds less than anyone else -- BUT they deleted the mag cutoff. In theory, they also came with only three choke tubes, IIRC. I bought one and it had all five tubes in the box...:) ...they turned out to be 12 ga tubes in a 20 ga box...:scrutiny: ...Beretta swapped them for free...:D
