Does any one know the name of a good gunsmith that can open up a Winchester model 70 classic short magnum action so that it can accept 375 H&H length cartridge. Looking for as close to factory action match as possible.

I have a Model 70 classic stainless that was a 7 remington Magnum.
I had a 375 H&H factory stainless that I bought as a new take off barrel.
The barrel install was simple. Gun fires great and is accurate. However, it will not reliably eject the spent cases.
Loaded rounds eject just fine due to being front heavy. Spent cases about 75% of the time. They hit the side of the action. Sometimes they will eject a long way. Sometimes just lay in the action.

Any responses will be appreciated.

I don't think "opening up" the action is the answer.

Did it eject the 7mm cases reliably?

"Sometimes just lay in the action." makes me think there is an extractor/ejector issue.

It did eject the 7mm cases fine.
I started playing around with it and I found that the cases lay in the action only when there is one round in the magazine.
I have what is supposed to be a 375 follower and magazine box. But the follower seems to allow the front of the next loaded round to come up and sometimes it interferes with the round being ejected. I think that it must have to with the long taper on the 375. If it was an improved 375 it probably would work ok.
I have to figure out how to resolve this problem.

Still in the long run it probably would be better to open up the action if can find someone to do it.
I have been reading about 300 H&H's & 7 STW's that work just fine on the standard action. Have not found anyone that has said that the 375 H&H's would work reliably without opening the action
