I need some help determining the value of a Winchester Model 97 in 12ga and a Remington Model 31 in 16ga.

The Remington is in Good-Excellent condition and the Winchester in Good condition with a chip on the stock.

Does anyone have any information about these two guns?

Thanks!
Anthony

Both are classics and good shooters as well as collector pieces in excellent condition, Anthony.

Post more info, like barrel length, choke, wood, etc, and we'll be better able to give you fair prices.

But, you should keep them.

These are guestimates, but the Model 97 is 30" barrel and the 31 a 28". I'm going to keep one of these, but I haven't decieded which one yet. I'm leaning towards the 31 as I do enjoy shooting the 16ga. The wood is in great condition on the 31, and the 97's condition isn't bad, but does have a chip taken out of the stock where it meets the reciever.

Not sure on what choke they have. I'll have to look closer.

Here are pics.

I can't tell that much from the pics, can you send them here for evaluation? Heh,heh.....

Seriously, both are keepers. Due to the CAS fad, the 97 may be more sellable. A new stock or piecing out the old one isn't that hard. Numrich has parts.

Best guess, each is worth someplace between $250 and 400.

HTH....

The 97's in even just fair condition are going for around $350 around here. The pic doesn't show much, but you should be able to get around $400 plus for it.

Fair to good M97's are going for about $400 here in Moonsoon Central. Solid frames a little more because those (insert expletive here) cowboy shooters like the solid frames to (EGAD!) cut down. My 1906 M97 take-down was appraised for $500 for insurance purposes. It would probably go somewhere in the $350-400 range.
You have to keep the M97 to save it from a hideous fate at the hands of a cowboy shooter.

My gray-patina'd 1907-vintage 12-guage takedown was what I thought was a steal at $250. I could probably unload it quickly for $400.

From the pic, it looks like that one's A) gotta lotta finish left on it, or B) been re-finished lately.

A) woulld get you some $700-odd. Classic hammer Winchesters are quite collectible.

B) would run more in the realm of $350-$450 depending on how heavy-handed the re-polish was, I think.

The Norinco clones (Which are about $250-$300 new.) have brought the prices on these down a bit, or more likely stabilized them, actually. CAS folks like these guns for their ease-of-loading and handling characteristics.

These prices are reflective of the PRK, BTW.
