I got to the outdoor range for the first time for the year today. Some of the snow was melted off of it, although I did have to slog through some between the parking lot and the range.
I brought a bunch of handguns, a Marlin 1894FG carbine, and my Mossberg 590 along. I hadn't shot the 590 for a while and had some Winchester Low Recoil 00 to try.
First I put seven Winchester target loads (the Walmart case stuff) through the gun. Turns out I did remember a little about how to shoot a shotgun.
The Low Recoil 00 didn't seem to recoil any more than the target loads.
The nine pellets in the loads made patterns of about nine by nine inches at 50 feet, and 12 X 13 inches at 25 yards. I used International Rapid Fire Silhouette Targets. They were cheap at CDNN many years ago, and work well with pistols, shotguns and rifles. The 590 has a ghost ring peep sight and an orange front blade. That helped to get the pellets on target.
Kiesler's Wholesale has been selling the Winchester Ranger Low Recoil 00 buck by the 250 round case for $1.49 a box of five if anyone is interested.
