Winchester Ranger +P+ in XDM9?

the xdm web site does not give that info..............I'd get on the phone and call Springfield and ask them.

I was at a gun show today and saw lots of that Win. Ranger +P+ 9mm ammo. I thought about buying a box or two but didn't know if my Sig 226 or my Kahr PM9 would handle it. LM

It would be safe to use as a self defense load. But I would'nt plan on target practicing with it. Also for a good self defense load in smaller pistols give Hornady Critical defense a look.

It'll hardly even notice the difference.

You'll get all the usual warnings about accelerated wear (as if anyone is going to shoot that much of it), shoot it and don't give it a second thought.

Today's 9mm +p is just about where regular old european 9mm used to be at.

Our standard pressure stuff is barely hotter than where .380ACP should be at ;)

Its funny that there are people who think their XD, Kahr and P266 can't handle current production ammo. Maybe Winchester makes all that +p+ ammo for the S&W 5906 and CZ-75B only...

I was given a box of Winchester +p+ and purchased a box of Federal +p+. After a couple hundred rounds of standard 9mm in my new SR9 I decided to try them out. The Winchester were obviously hotter than the WWB and my reloads and were sweet. The Federals were considerably hotter than the Winchester +p+. Even the sound garnered some attention at the range. I don't think any quality modern pistol is going to mind a limited diet of todays +p+ loads.

My 5906 owner's manual specifically states that +p+ ammo should NOT be used in the gun. Doesn't mean it won't, but would have to take it into serious consideration if the gun manufacture recommends not to use it.

I carry Ranger 115gr +P+ in my PM9. It is decidedly hotter than +P loads I've tried, and does leave my palm feeling like it was slapped repeatedly after a box. I ran the 50 rounds through at the range the first time, for reliability, then only practice loads after that.

XD's are +P rated (all of them), the XD 45 is one of the few that will fire the LaMas ammo (REALLY hot military loads...new stuff) without any modifications, just take it out of the box, clean it, load it and shoot it.

An XD will chew up and spit out more +P or +P+ rounds than most are willing shoot...ever.

Mine has seen quite a few 45 Super loads, no signs of excessive or accelerated wear anywhere.
