I bought a box of Winchester 270 130gr power points. I noticed two of the rounds are stamped 30-06 but have a 270 bullet in them. I tried to contact Olin but they have no contact info. I don't know if this could cause trouble if some one looked at the 30-06 headstamp and shot the mislabeled Winchester 270 out of a 30-06. Made me loose a little faith in this ammo, doubt I buy anymore.

No street address required. They'll make it right if you write them a letter and send the box back. Never heard of this happening with Winchester before, but can be common with other Mfg.

Fear no they are the same case and are unlikely to cause damage if fired in a '06 (but certainly not recommended). I do find it odd, especially with only two of the cases...but mistakes happen. I wouldn't worry about shooting Winchester (Olin) ammunition though, it has been good from my experience. If you received a .30cal projectile in a .270 or the like I would be worried...or worse a .308 marked .270...that could be disastrous but no real harm in the .270 in a .30-06'. Accuracy will vary if fired in a .30-06. :D
