Had a chance to shoot some of these from my Ruger Single Nine. Very accurate ammunition, all fired and no extraction problems.

MCgunner,I have fired both the Speer Gold Dot and Hornady Critical defense from my Single Nine and a single Six w/magnum cyclinder.Again good accuracy and no malfunctions.Have fired the hornady from a henry 22 Mag lever rifle and with good accuarcy.

Well, the Winchester is good, really good, just not an option in that NAA because of the several misfires I had out of 100 rounds. Shame since it's hard to find any ammo now days in .22 mag. I have a last box of Hornady CD that I covet and practiced with the Winchester. :D I just happened in to them. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever see another box of rimfire on the shelves of a sporting goods store. I've had to order most of what I've gotten in the last year and a half, don't order at elevated prices, but have to pay exorbitant shipping.

That little NAA fills my deep concealment niche and I love the fact that the ammo companies have FINALLY recognized the need for something in .22 mag for short barreled self defense firearms. Just wish I could go to Academy and buy a box.

I have watched Midway closely and was able to get a carton of Hornady. My gunstore got several cartons of the Speer in and I was able to get a carton.

Alas!

All I am able to get is Speer Gold Dot.

But since Speer Gold Dot is extremely accurate in my Taurus (1 1/4" 8 round group at 7 yds. from 3" barrel) I guess it is a problem I can live with.

None the less I would like to try Hornady and Winchester's offerings.

About prices... CCI MaxiMags 30gr V+ seem to dribble in now. One store had them for $18.95, another for $29.95! I was greeted at a small store where I shop by the manager - he announced he had a few boxes of the V+ he had gotten in left - did I want them. I said sure - he handed me four boxes and said $40 inc s/t. Of course, I had left home with no cash or checkbook... he took MC for the amount. My point is that he surely made a few cents per box - meaning that the ammo probably cost him $8/box - same for the other stores. Don't support the high mark-up crooks... I won't.

Midway notified me that Hornady CD 45gr FTX was in last nite. I was on their site within 45 minutes - and they were already out. Diligence! I still have four or five boxes - for my 351PD. The V+ ammo - and other JHP MaxiMags - are for my recently acquired new CZ 455FS in .22 WMR. My 4" 651 gets the solid clad MaxiMags. My 'stash' is dwindling. I have yet to see the Winnie PDX1 in .22 WMR.
