Digging around in my shop I realized I have most of the parts to build another AR. I do need a barrel though and I don't want to lay out a bunch of money. I'm thinking about a stripped Windham Weaponry 20" Govt profile barrel and like the specs and price but don't know anything about their quality.

I already have a go-to M4gery that's set up the way I like it so this next rifle will be just for fun but, I do want reasonable accuracy. That leads to the question; are WW barrels OK? Any major pros or cons? Shooting will be 100 to 400 yards with straight up A2 sights at steel plates. It's all about fun.

TIA

Their barrel quality is fine.
One I worked with was the most accurate .223 AR I've fired, and a .308 I worked with was great out to the 400-yard limit I was taking it.

Windham Weaponry is basically the old Bushmaster. Before Bushmaster got bought out and quality went south. I've got an M4gery that shoots well from them. Accuracy isn't steller, being a 14.5" chromed barrel, but it darn sure isn't embarrassing, either. I get about 3 1/2 inch groups at 100 with a 2 MOA red dot. Haven't put a magnified optic on it (and probably won't) to see what it's actually capable of.
