Fellow I ride the towboat with got to talking guns and he has several shottys he hasn't looked at for years.Got model 12's in 12,16,+20.AND a model 42 in .410! all in good shape. He bought them years ago.I told him he had some valuable guns and he looked skeptical.Could someone give us an aprox value.Best case sceneraio.Thanks.

depends

It all depends on condition, model version, originality, gauge, etc. I was at a shoot this weekend where a number of guns changed hands. A 16 gauge Model 12 with a solid rib, modified choke and in 98% condition with beautiful wood was bought by a dealer friend of mine for $2,000. He intends to put it back on the market for $2500. Another Model 12, 12 gauge, trap gun with Monte Carlo stock all original except for a replacement Winchester pad sold for $2800. This was a "pigeon grade" gun and again beautiful piece of wood, again probably a 98% gun.

The quality guns are still selling at good prices (for the seller).

Around here the 20 ga could easily bring $700-800 if in good shape. The 42 $1500-2000 The 12 & 16 ga $500-600 assuming they are all plain barreled field models. Things like add on poly-chokes reduce their value. And certain choke restrictions like modified or improved cylinder raise their value slightly over the extremely commom full choked models.

THANKSThanks,fellas!

My partner keeps the gons in his brothers' gunsafe and hasn't looked at them for 10 years or so. Says he's going to examine them in a new light.I'd love to have the Mod 42 .410 but I believe I've shot myself in the foot!

I'd love to have a 20ga Model 12 and a model 42 to go with the 12 & 16 ga that I inherited, but the sticker shock stopped me in my tracks.(LOL):D
