Carry!!

First snow here already .. hate it ... and weeks and weeks ahead of indeterminate conditions. But .... YeeHaw ...... carry becomes actually easy for a change. What a treat!

Now almost always when out have large, long and thick (even if open) - winter shirt. I am spoiled for choice. So happens since adding CT grips to my SP-101 I am hangin on to that .. may do so all winter even. But can also fit speedloaders into pockets and not feel encumbered. Nice!

I could I know - equally put either P series in the Fobus paddle .... and know it's bulk will not print ..... and again .... pockets .... lots of lovely pockets .. for spare mags. Could even conceal the damned SRH if I had a mind to! :D

All that aside ... winter still sux!!:p

Yeah, winter carry is a blast, I got bored and started carrying a 1911 as a BUG to my G17, then switched to a G34 as the BUG. Wish it would snow here...

Ahh...California...the Golden State... where we never have seasons and it's always sunshine.

Yeah right. The past week has been rain; but, yeah, it does make carry a little easier. Long leather coats and heavy sweaters… I feel like I could conceal a 60 gun underneath my coat.

Cowboy up!

Every time I hear this I think of a soldier on line requesting a cowboy.

The drawback to winter carry is that you may have to sacrifice warmth for a smooth draw, depending on the rig. My solution usually involves the gen-1 Gore-tex parka, as they have really handy Velcro breast pockets that easily accomidate a full size pistol. I use an Uncle Mike's IWB holster as it covers the trigger guard, and keeps the weapon from shifting around too much. Plus, the fabric ensures that the holster isn't drawn along with the weapon.

Yeah...we got 23" inches of snow at my house!!!!I HATE snow....like winter and the cold tho.....I may be carrying my Glck17 alot this winter....

I agree, its a chilly 65 here today.
Lennyjoe .... my heart bleeds for ya!!!! Mind you too ... I'll say this .... you can keep that 117º from summer .... oh yeah!

Draw is a factor in winter .... but fortunately for me ... I can most times keep warm enough with just the long thick shirt .... which as I mentioned is for most part open. Beauty of this is - the sweep aside for draw is not really any different from when I just have the much thinner type on ... so overall not a problem.

If I have a coat as such then that is when the Bianchi sho rig probably comes out ... because I can access pretty quick outa that from a partially buttoned coat.

The whole success or otherwise of carry - to me - is the ability to be as versatile as possible .... the right method for the conditions..... and this invariably means for me too .... being proficient with probably three carry pieces - at least.

Rain rain rain, with intermittent brief periods of sunshine. Can't wait to hit the slopes come January though - all this rain down here means more snow up there :)

Now that it is really cold, I can actually carry my Blackhawk if I can...too bad everywhere I go is either an elementary or a university...

The only problem with changing my carry habbits for winter is that the heavy coat MUST come off when I get indoors. I'm too hot natured to keep heavy coats or shirts on when I get out of the cold. :(

AS much as I would like to change my carry habits from summer to winter, my school and workplace have the heat set on inferno, so usually Ive stripped down to just a t-shirt shortly after my arrival.

Winter carry is definitely easier, but the only coat that I'll wear this winter is one that I just bought. It's very Boondock Saint-esque but not actually a p coat. I'll probably still carry IWB since the coat is only on during transit to and from vehicle.
