Today I turned in my CCW application at the jail here in Ventura, CA. I will now keep my fingers crossed and see what happens. Has anyone elese gone through the process here in cali? honor of this historic day , I went and purchased a Bersa Thunder .380 with the hope that everything works out. I got the Bersa for $250 otd. Is this an ok price? Everything here seems to be more expensive than everywgere else. I plan to carry this or my G27 or G23 depending on attire and situation.

Bersa's are $180 retail here but I suspect gun stuff in California will be higher more oftern than not. I see Keltec pocket guns going for 500+ in cali.

I paid 290.00 OTD for my Firestorm.

I see them in gun shows here for 220.00 for the Firestorm and 200.00 for the Thunder. This is after I bought mine.

CA CCW

My Kern County CCW process took just about 60 days, some of which I could have shaved off. I turned in the app (2 years ago) and they called me about 3 weeks later and said I could go and take my training class, which I did. I took my cert to them and they fingerprinted me both old style and digital. I had to give them proof of address and my DD-214 (Army discharge papers). They called me back and said to pick up my permit. I took them their fees and the list of 3 guns I wanted on the permit. I just renewed the permit this month. No problems, but my county sherrif is pretty conservative and pro 2A. I don't know about Ventura County.

Humboldt took less than two weeks.

I don't think Kel-Tecs are even on the list for sale in CA. At least they are not on the copy of the list that I have.

Bersa 380 for 250, sounds pretty good to me, that is about as good as I could do here in Northern CA.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out! I'm close enough that I'd move to ventura if I could get a CCW. I just picked up a bersa for $220 (before taxes, fees, lock, etc) and its a pretty great little gun.
