Witness sight adjustment

I have a 10mm EAA Witness that shoots about 1 inch to the left at 7 yards. This pistol does not have adjustable sights, but the rear sight is dovetailed. Is adjusting this just as simple as hitting the rear sight with a small hammer and a brass punch? I have not had the need to do much work on my guns, so any advice on how to go about adjusting this without damaging anything would be appreciated.

Adjusting your sights is exactly as easy as you suggest. Simply drift the rear sight in it's notch with a brass or delrin drift. Pad the jaws of the vise you hold the slide in, BEFORE you tighten the slide in it. This is a "trial and error" method, but if you keep at it, you WILL get your sights zeroed.

Some companies market sight-pushers which make this easier to do without marring the finish, but they are pricey for a single application. Your local pistolsmith may have one. Fees should be modest.

It's a bit of a hassle to get fixed sights regulated, but then your'e "Good to Go!" If you had adjustables, you'd zero them - then spend the rest of your life hoping they haven't moved!

1 inch at 7 yds equates to rear sight movement of about 0.025 inches - a tiny amount! Good luck.
