I have read the several internet alerts that Wolf ammo would soon have its own line of 7.5X55 Swiss ammo.

I can't find it yet.

Does anyone have any more recent information?

I've got a possible deal on a K-31, but want to know about the ammo situation first.

Thanks,

hillbilly

I'm not even going to bother with wolf stuff. GP-11 is good stuff and actually a good value for what you get. I also handload- resizing .284 win to 7.5x55 is a cinch.

Hillbilly, I emailed Wolf a month ago and they said the swiss 7.5 would indeed be out sometime this summer. Boxer primed brass, so it should be reloadable. Go ahead and get a K31, I have two and love them. The stocks are in bad shape but the metal is good, great bores on all of them and they are by far the most accurate milsurps I've ever shot(I've heard the Swedish mausers are tackdrivers also but cost 3 times as much). The surplus swiss isn't really that expensive. The GP11 is really match grade ammo, as good quality as the premium hunting ammo in stores. Check with www.aimsurplus.com they usually have the best prices even with shipping. :)

To neck up .284 brass, just make sure you lube the inside diameter of the neck adequately. Also, make sure you're decapping/expander stem is in tight if it's secured by a collet in the die ala Hornady dies. Necking up isn't so bad. Necking down on the other hand isn't fun.

I really hope the Wolf 7.5 Swiss ammo will be reloadable brass. While I won't be buying any, I see plenty of K31 owners at my range who don't reload and I'll be calling dibs on their brass if they don't want it. :D

I think that Wolf brass will bring in some income for the non-reloaders selling it to reloaders, what do you think? Right now a lot of people do the neck-down thing with .284.

Also don't let preconceptions about Wolf prevent you from trying it, they are just importing it. I think it is actually Prvi Partizan which currently sells at a few stores already.

I use RCBS 7.5 swiss dies, you need a 30-06 shell holder as a 7.5 swiss shell has a different rim than a .284 win but the .284 win is he same as a 30-06.

Lube the cases inside the neck and the body well.

Screw the die down so its 1/8 to 1/4 turn down past where the ram meets the die so that it cams over.

Resize.

You shouldn't have to trim. The trim to specs in the manuals are way too short. The case length should be between 2.175" and 2.180" this will vary by who you ask, but its the specs that I use.
