Ok, ok, I know people get sick of questions about Wolf ammo, but I'm confused about something.

Is the standard 7.62x39 FMJ bullet made of lead or steel?

I know the case is made of steel with either a lacquer or poly coating, but I'm not sure about the actual bullet. I've seem some posts that seem to indicate that the bullet itself is made from soft steel with a brass jacket.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately (at least for me) all of Wolf's ammunition is steel cored unless you buy the "copper" fmj/hp's. The bi-metal has steel in it as well, but it's copper washed. The ONLY copper jacketed bullets for this caliber I've EVER seen is the yellow and black box of Wolf. It's a travesty.

All wolf 762x39 is lead core. The black box ammo has a bi-metal jacket on the bullet that will stick to a magnet. The yellow box wolf is copper jacketed and doesn't stick to a magnet. Mark

So a lead core with a soft steel jacket rather than copper (or some mixture of steel and copper).

How about the newer black boxed poly coated Wolf? I read somewhere that the poly ammo is supposed to have a more traditional copper jacket. Truth or rumor?

Thanks.

I just checked, the poly coated black box ammo is still bi-metal jacketed bullets.
