Would you use Wolf brand ammo in a Glock 30? IF not then what other brand would you use that is fairly cheap. Thanks.

NO

I have heard of casing problems with Wolf, where the casing splits when fired. I can't remember which caliber that was, but it left a bad taste in my mouth about the manufacturer.

I don't shoot my Glocks much because they are about my least favorite. But last time I had them out I ran 100 rounds of Wolf in the 21 and 17. No problems.

I have heard customers complain of light strikes with Wolf ammunition when fired in their Glock pistols.
I can't remember ever firing any Wolf in my personal Glocks but if I did the results were not memorable enough to continue doing so.

I have had good but not spectacular results with CCI Blazer and Blazer Brass ammunition.

That's the problem with Wolf ammo. You have too many people who have heard this or heard that but they've never fired the ammo out of their guns.

I have fired hundreds of Wolf rounds through my G30 and various 9mm Glocks. I have not had one single problem. Not one failure to feed, failure to fire or failure to eject. I have not had anything break, the cases included.

Take it from me because I have actually fired Wolf ammo, there is nothing wrong with it in a G30. For the cost of ammo, you do save money over the American made ammo. For using it at the range, it's perfect. I wouldn't carry it in a self defense capacity but it is fine for range work.

A lot of ranges won't let you use Wolf at their range. Why? I don't know, maybe they have the same misperceptions about Wolf as a lot of shooters seem to have. Maybe they don't like the fact that they can't pick up the shells and reload Wolf?

Try it out for yourself.

I shoot Wolf in all my guns, except my Glock 20 - Wolf doesn't make 10mm.

I have a G17, G26 - no problems.

Kimber SS Target II - no problems.

XD-45ACP - no problems.

Kel-Tec 3AT - no problems.

Sig P229 - no problems.

Ruger P345 - no problems.

Norinco MAK-90 (AK-clone) - no problems.

I agree. You should shoot a few boxes and decide for yourself.

I've shot Wolf and Silver Bear ammo through both my Glocks, G22 and G26, with no problems.

Not a chance. I use either Winchester USA (better known as Winchester White Box or WWB), UMC (Remington generic label), or American Eagle (made by Federal). I have used Sellier and Bellot (S&B). Good stuff and maybe $1 per box less (substantial savings if you're into buying by the case).

I personally do alot of reloading so steel case in my pistols are out of the question, I do shot loads of it through my sks and mak-90, but my general rule that i go by is if it is an expensive weapon say over $350 i don't use it just because the simple fact that quality guns like that deserve good quality brass cased ammo. Check natchezss.com for ammo prices or even wal-mart. Blaser was recommended above, even the blaser brass would be nice it is fairly inexpensive, and the american eagle as well, standard wwb from wal-mart is a really good deal.

Edmond: I had to laugh when I read your post. I have tried to beat that drum in hundreds of threads on this board. It won't work. This board doesn't operate on fact, it operates on rumor and speculation.
If you read the posts on this thread, you will see that everyone that actually fired Wolf ammo in a Glock, had no problem at all. Everyone that said they wouldn't do it, or gave an answer that didn't answer the question never mention ever having actually fired it.
Never the less, the next time this topic comes up, you will get the same exact results. It doesn't matter if 10,000 people posted that they actually fired sixteen cases each without a problem, you won't convience the armchair commandos.

I ran a POLL here on the forum, a year or so ago, asking those who had USED (and only those who had used) Wolf to relate their experience.

Over time the results were that about 1/2 of the folks loved Wolf and never had a problem. The other half had problems ranging from extraction issues, to guns "glued" shut from the lacquer coating in the chamber. Some were totally in love, others were totally disgusted. A pretty high portion had problems -- but others swore by the stuff.

Since then, Wolf has done away with the lacquer coating that tened to heat up and melt and gum things up, and has gone to a polymer finish on the rounds, so one of the biggest problems seems to have been remedied.

I haven't used it because I can find stuff I like (which shoots wells in my guns) for almost the same price. I haven't talked with anyone using the new polymer-coated rounds.

I have a couple hundred rounds left of Wolf, that I have been shooting in my Kimber. Other that it being really dirty stuff, I haven't run into any problems. I gave a couple of boxes to my brother-inlaw, he has a Glock 21. He didn't mention any problems either. Although after this is shot up, I will probably look for something a little cleaner to burn.

Since this conversation has become more about Wolf ammo and less about Glocks, I'll go ahead and mention that over the last two months I've put about a case and a half of it through my XD-45ACP without any problems, issues or malfunctions at all. Feeds fine, shoots fine, ejects fine. The only difference I've been able to tell at all with Wolf ammo is that firing it seems to leave my gun a little dirtier than firing RemUMC or WWB. Since I enjoy cleaning my gun after a day at the range anyway, I don't really consider that a problem.

For a little more you can buy quality brass cassed and reloadable ammo, that ain't so dirty, but hey that just me.

JUST SAY NO TO WOLF

About a month ago I was shooting wolf .45 out of my USP45 when the unexpected happened. I had a failure to feed (the first failure of any kind in that gun in almost 5000 rounds). When I looked to see what problem was i saw a case still in the chamber. When I tried to remove it I couldn't. The case ruptured so bad that it took a cleaning rod and mallet to pop it out. When I started picking up spent cases I noticed that about 25% showed some sign of case damage. Thinking there may be something wrong with my chamber I had my smith look it over. He said that it was with it factory spec's, so it must have been the ammo. I called wolf and they had me send some of the cases back, then offered me a free box of ammo. Right just what I want... more crappy ammo. I declined.

Wolf works fine in my Star BM..........But I tried it in my G-23 last week and was disappointed.......I had 2 rounds stick tightly in the .40's chamber.........So tight I had to drive them out with a dowel......This was with the polymer coating........I cleaned the chamber, and fired the rest of the box OK...............I can stand a jam that clears easily, but not the two I had....I'll still buy Wolf for my 45's and my 9,but my Glock didnt like it.................Bob

When I said "I have heard customers complain of light strikes with Wolf ammunition when fired in their Glock pistols." let me clarify that as not meaning hearsay that the customers have said this.
What I meant was that I have personally exchanged Wolf ammunition for other brands when the customers returned the unfired remains of the boxes of Wolf ammunition and began chewing on me because they bought the ammo and I made no attempt to stop them.
I give them 50% of their purchase price towards any other ammunition that they want and the unfired remains go into bins of mixed cartridges that customers can fish out however many rounds they want at greatly reduced prices.

Let me also clarify that I am not attempting to slam Wolf ammunition or Russian made ammunition in any way.
Some of my customers have bought Barnaul Silver Bear or Golden Bear to replace the Wolf and did not report any problems nor did they exchange that stuff for something else.

Lots of people shoot lots of Wolf without issue.
I personally feel that in certain firearms the Wolf ammunition is not to be recommended for use, that's all.

Sellier-Bellot 115gr. FMJ

I use Sellier-Bellot 115gr. FMJ by the case. The range where I shoot primarily sells this for target practice. Haven't had any bad experiences whatsoever using it in my Glock 19. For defensive ammo I can highly recommend Corbon JHP 115gr. +P. No hang-ups and excellent real world stoppage statistics.

BTW - Is anyone else using Sellier-Bellot? I'm wondering how it stacks up to CCI....

I have had a couple of double-strikes in my Walther P99 9mm. It also is a striker-fired handgun. Probably the tolerance range of the harder-russian primers are just barely outside the force of a striker [ as opposed to a hammer-fired ]. Normally I juse use WWB or Blazer.. but sometimes the wolf is the cheapest.

The only other problem I have ever had with wolf ammo, is the "old style" case-sealant on the 7.62x39.. and after rapid firing many and the action gets very hot. This has since been solved with their "new style" case sealant.
