Women and Guns

23% of women own guns? Is that in Iowa? I know that the more people I mention shooting to, the more women I know speak up that they have guns. Most of them aren't "into" shooting. I wonder if that includes women who have guns in the household but not their own specific gun. So many questions.

[edit] Here is a link to the Gallup poll summary from last October. The 23% refers to women who say that they have their OWN gun.

If you had been at the Florida Open last weekend you would have seen a lot of women shooters from all over the world. Here in Florida I know quite a few women who shoot for both PD and fun. :)

My Wife is 70 years old, and she has more personal guns than I do. She and her girlfriends go out together in the desert to go shooting quite often. For CCW, she has a Bersa all steel Model 85 DA .380, 13 in the double stack mag and 1 in the snout, at home she sleeps with her Taurus Judge under the pillow. She casts her own boolits and reloads them, and it has been about that way for the last 51 years of marriage to her.

The worst part about my wife being a shooter now, is she has both Veto power, and her own tastes in firearms.

I have to buy guns that appeal to us both, or we have to alternate purchases. Such a terrible world we live in. :D

My girlfriend's dad taught her how to shoot and hunt deer when she was 15, and everytime she comes over she wants to go shooting my .22s

Oh, and yes, I do know I'm a very lucky man.

My wife has her ccw and carries her S&W 431 PD .32 H&R Mag, but doesn't go shooting with me a lot.
Just enough to keep me from bugging her about shooting her carry sometimes.
But the article I posted was just general trends.
