Oh Hi Oh
I'm interested in buying wooden grips for a Sig 239. I placed an order with Hogue a few weeks ago but have found out they have quite a long wait due to backorders. I'm not willing to wait 10 to 12 weeks for grips. Anyone know of alternatives and where to get them?

Thanks

The Sig grips that CDNN has look to be Hogue to me. The only ones on the Website are for P226.

Nil Grips are beautiful, almost works of art. HOWEVER, these grips are very tough to come by. As I recall, there is only a single distributor left in the US, you cannot order online, you must call the distributor to find out what he has in stock. Waiting months for a particular order to arrive is not uncommon.

Have you looked at the Hogue Auction site? I have purchased from here, and you get fine grips (hard to find why they are cosmetic seconds) at a good price.

Currently they have no P239 grips listed, but check back, the site is frequently updated.

Beware the hogue seconds. I purchased a set for my P220ST. They appear to we well made, until you try to fit them on your gun. They're seconds for a reason. Mine would not line up correctly. I tried dremeling and sandpaper. When I was fitting it, one the the protruding pieces broke off.

Re: Nill

I believe the Germans took a peeve with their sole US (non)distributor and are now dealing direct from Germany until alternative channels are established. Whether this works for good or ill, I couldn't say. But occasionally such a fallout leads to better performance.

From the web site:

Dear customers and friends, for some time now, we have experienced problems with our US partners in marketing and delivering our products to our highly valued American customer base. We have, therefore, decided to handle all inquiries and orders from our American friends directly from our home base. Our website shows all of our products and lists all related information, enabling you to order all grips via our Online-Shop System that is currently being established. Since grips do require a U.S. import licence, we are forming a central importation site from which all grips will be distributed to customers. We expect all systems to be in place by January 2005, and wish to assure you that all your inquiries and orders will be handled expeditiously so that our quality grips can be enjoyed by you without any undue delay. Dealers wishing to establish their own import licences and to receive deliveries directly will be assisted in the application process and will receive a special bonus on their first order. Nill Grips is committed to serving the high-quality segment of our industry. We are proud of our innovative, customer and quality-oriented approach to doing business and look forward to being of service to you.

I find the dealer solicitation particularly intriguing - WildAlaska - you paying attention?

I got some Nill grips from Larry's guns about a year ago (maybe more). I don't know if they're still handling Nill merchandise. When I ordered, they had to place the order to Germany. They didn't seem to have much on hand. Took forever. Then, they sent me the wrong grips. They made good on it, but it took a while. You might try them. They have a web site, but you have to order the grips by phone, unless something has changed.

Scratch that. Just checked their website:

"LARRY'S GUNS NO LONGER HANDLES NILL GRIPS"

Too bad. I was thinking about getting some for a 1911. They're pricey, but really nice.

Unfortunately, these problems happen far to often to customers of Nil Grips. The dealer ends up getting the sharp tongue from the customer. Most dealers evidently decided it wasn't worth it. They are pretty grips, though.

bah...wood grips on a SIG are like 21 inch gold plated wire rims on a Hummer

Funny thing is, I just posted a question about where to buy wooden rims for a Hummer over on hummerforumwoodenwheels.com

Pretty much what I thought,

until I saw the Nill catalog.
Start with the P7 and work your way to the P239.
Germans know how to make wood grips for German guns.

As evidenced by the fact I'm not too fond of their 1911 handles. Personal taste, ain't it wonderful?

:D

Kinda like this, huh?

My local Adult Daycare/gunshop has a nice P229 with beautiful wood handles on it. Very pretty...but just not what I'm after...and I love nice dead tree stuff.

Rabbit
