Was in. Northern Virginia the last two weeks on Business. Picked up a pair of new knives. An Ontario AUS-8 Model 1 and a CJRB. Both we’re relatively inexpensive. A little bigger than I would normally carry. Both are light and were sharp.

Cold steel uses a lot of AUS-8 steel and the knives I own from them have been great. I think you will really enjoy this knives as well. Let us know how they work out for you.

I have one of the Ontario's. It is a pretty decent knock around knife when for those times you don't want to take a chance on breaking or losing a more expensive knife. Never heard of the CJRB, but like the looks of it.

I looked at them on Amazon after my other post. G10 handles and D2 steel for around $35 looks interesting. I tried one of the Chinese Ganzo knives. If these are as good they are probably a winner.

I have a Kabar Dozier Design folder in Aus-8. No problems with that steel if you ask me, especially for the price.

All this knife talk has certainly added new ones to my collection. Both were recommended right here. I have two weeks home and then off to Germany for four weeks. Wonder what to get there? My travel for work has started again so every month or so I go somewhere new.

I have had those knives for awhile now and am pleased with the Rat 1 and amazed at the workmanship of the CJRB feldspar. Anyone with $30 can get a good folder, and they are closing in on the $15 price point ($25 Kershaw natrix has ball bearings).

Wonder what to get there?

You will probably find that you can get whatever there cheaper here, but as a memento of travel I like buying something a little different. What part of Germany and how much free time will you have?

Euro is $1.20 right now, so add 20% to those Euro prices for dollars.

Last time I was in Germany there were entire stores just for knives, especially interesting were the automatics. But probably not a good idea to try and sneak one in past customs.

Be careful & stay healthy with all that flying!

Going to Frankfort this time. Last two trips were Aug of 19 and Jan of 20 to Munich. Working on the first parts of two other projects in Germany. Mainz and Stuttgart. All other journeys are state side. Maybe a trip to Ottawa if COVID lets up. I won’t bring anything to be taken by customs back. On a trip from Sydney to Vancouver I had to empty everything at Canadian customs. Not fun. Almost missed my flight. Might have some free time, but travel is hard. Did go to Gettysburg middle weekend last trip.

Ganzo Firebird is my work trip knife. Much larger than anything I EDC but it will be my only option on trips.

If you are in Frankfort for a Saturday then check to see if the Flea Market still operates along the river south of the main city...no telling what you may find there.

And if you get to Stuttgart and like cars, the Porsche museum there is fantastic.

I always take my leatherman wave with me on trips. Mostly for fishing purposes, but I have testified before to THR that i am rarely without pliers. I love my leatherman wave.....guess what, I LOST IT at Coquina Beach on anna Maria Island, Florida. We were catching sheepshead on the beach under the bridge to Longboat key(if anybody wants to look for it).
I lost a leatherman skeletool about 6 years ago......near the bridge to Longboat key.....on anna maria Island Florida.?...!

What the heck?
Now I'm shopping for a leatherman wave with a pocket clip accessory.
