Working DIY Micro Auto Disk

It's a $1 mod with infinite adjustment that actually works. :D

With better metering powders like Bullseye/W231/HP-38 (and I am sure BE-86), you can even use the brass screw without rounding/polishing the tip and still get less than .1 gr variance.

So, with the tip polished to a cone, still does not work well for Unique or Red Dot?

Since Unique meters worse than Red Dot for me using Pro Auto Disk without disk modification and Red Dot metering was unacceptable with the round tip mod, I decided to not test Unique. However, I did post using this mod for larger holes and larger flake powders like Unique/Red Dot/Promo may work to obtain in-between hole charges.

I am planning to test BE-86 for 380Auto and will be using the mod. I could test the polished cone tip for Unique/Red Dot/Promo using larger holes but since we are moving this month, testing will be delayed. I will post my results when I do.

With Red Dot, it was not much better than using unmodified screw. While fluctuation limits decreased a bit, it was still too much for me to use the mod for Red Dot. I think the smallest Auto Disk hole (.30) metering 1.8-1.9 gr without the mod (or unmodified screw inserted flush) is the lowest consistency limit for me.

... While I would not suggest using this mod with larger flake powders like Red Dot/Unique/Promo with .30 Auto Disk hole, it may be used with larger disk holes to obtain in-between hole powder charges.

The hole drilled in the side of the autodisk presents the possibility of a partially (and inconsistently) filled cavity around the cone-shaped tip and inside the drilled hole (When the adjusting screw is backed out to any extent).

If the adjusting screw is deeply screwed into the autodisk cavity, a different problem arises, that of an empty space directly below the shaft of the screw, which may be inconsistent.

Either of these phenomena may contribute to inconsistency in your powder drops.

So, you exchange a bit of consistency for adjustability with this "adjustment screw in the side of the auto-disk" modification.

I am sure there is a solution somewhere. This one is elegant, simple, inexpensive. But not perfect.....yet. Keep on trying.
