I am going to reload some ammo for my hunting rifle and plan on using a heavier grain bullet than in the past. I also have some other powder that I would like to try. I will load up 5 rounds each of several different powder charges to try out to see which one shoots the best. In the past I have done this in .5gr increments.

What increments do you use when you work up a load??

It depends on case size. In somethng like a 30/06 or larger, at the lower range I'll go up in 1 grain increments until I get toward the upper range of recommended loads at which time the increments will be 0.5 grains.

In something the size of a 222 Remington, the initial increments would be 0.5 grains.
