I am not good at freehand sharpening. I bought this at Sportsman's Warehouse for approximately $35 and it makes me look like I know what I'm doing.

I can't get an actual razor sharp edge with it but my knives will slice paper and shred seat belts.

I use the same one. Like you, I can't get it razor-sharp, but it is good enough for a work knife.

I have one in my hunting pack but haven’t had a chance to use it yet.

I have 2 of those. One in the house, and another in the truck. That is the only thing I've been using for several years.

Dude, it's all about the desk. I thought you knew that. :D

Ohhhhh, it's a desk review. Thanks!

What.., you don't have a sharpening desk? o_O
;)

I do have a sharpening desk, but it's the house kind, not the field kind.

I cut to the chase and bought a WorkSharp Ken Onion Edition powered knife sharpener that I use pretty much exclusively. It certainly sharpens to shaving sharp at a rapid rate. I also have a couple of leather super strops from Pro Sharpening Supply that fit on it for finishing purposes. I can certainly recommend that rig.
