"Worldwide smallest and lightest double barrel rifle (2.2lbs)
Caliber 22/22 Hornet or 17/17 HMR (Hornady)

Specially developed Peter Hofer side lever system with double underlug.

Every single part was crafted from the full material especially for this round body double barrel rifle. Every part in this double barrel rifle is newly developed and cannot be compared to the parts in a traditionally built model.

The fascination of shooting this perfectly balanced double barrel rifle is indescribable. It probably has something to do with the little boy every man carries within himself.

Designed and handcrafted by Peter Hofer - Austria
Technical conception and engravings legally protected."

I just drooled all over the keyboard while looking at the website. Do you have any idea of the cost for it? It's a "price on request" site, but I assume that it's a choice between that gun or my next two new cars?

I admire the craftsmanship and the concept, but I have a hard time getting excited about it.

Fast 2nd shot for the coyote hunter using iron sights?

Anybody make a varmit scope with a left barrel/right barrel parralax adjustment?

Scratching my head. Maybe I don't have enough kid left in me. (But my wife would argue that...)

Just for the beauty, just for the joy of holding it. I would shoot it, but only to say that I had so completely and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. And I would thoroughly enjoy every aspect of it at every opportunity. It needs no purpose. It is the purpose.

I once saw a miniaturized boxlock shotgun that was, as I recall, chambered in 9mm Parabellum. Asking price was $30k. I recall asking the salesman what it was for, and he looked squarely at me and said "To waste money".

@griz

but I assume that it's a choice between that gun or my next two new cars?

Evidently, you drive a far, far nicer car than I...

2x the $8500 I spent on my Corolla would not begin to touch that rifle.

I think there are some relatively minimalist European sXs rifles around $6000 or so (Krieghoff?), but the one in those pics is no beater.

Ain't that pretty.
"price on request" That means if you have to ask, you can't afford it. Likely not even if you sold a kidney.

Evidently, you drive a far, far nicer car than I...

Nope, I've never bought a new car. I figure the depreciation is better spent on guns and ammo. They were theoretical cars I was talking about.:D

Huh?

I wonder if the ATF considers that a short-barreled-rifle?

Why? The barrels on that gorgeous side-by-side piece of artwork are at least 16" long from muzzle to breechface. They only look short because the shotgun next to it is considerably longer than the legal 18" minimum barrel length for shotguns.

Put a grip, muzzle-break and bayonet lug

Put a grip, muzzle-break and bayonet lug and the ATF would call it an "assault rifle"!!!!

Seriously, that is wonderful. Thank-you for sharing.

Not too hard to figure out.

Going just on length of pull alone:

From the guy shouldering it, let alone the position of the cheekpiece, it's not a short little 11.5" LOP Chipmunk-length buttstock, either:

There are guns, and then there is art.

This is one of the best examples I have seen of "The art of the gun".
Beautiful but not gaudy, like Saddam's gold AK's.
This begs to be touched, held caressed - like a beautiful woman.
I could never afford this but my day has become better for having seen this.

Perhaps, someday if I ever win the lottery...

Wow :what:

I don't care much for ultra high end double rifles or shotguns, but that beauty is calling to me for some reason. It has perfect proportions, at least to my eye.

His website shows drillings, vierlings, and even funflings... I'm totally awed.

Are there elf princesses somewhere that need .22 Hornet double rifles*? And why stop there... you'd think it would be K-Hornet at least.

*No, because Gewehr is right about the length of pull. This thing is for some kind of lightweight alien the size of an adult human.

Well, I guess I'll stop wondering about the existence of other life forms. Clearly there's at least one and it shops for double rifles on Earth.
