Would this magazine extension work with this sling?

Hey All,

I apologize for the two different posts today, but this doesn't fit in my previous one.

My 870P currently has a swivel end cap on the magazine tube. My sling attaches to this stud. I am thinking of getting this magazine extension (2 round capacity) http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=23983/Product/SHOTGUN_MAGAZINE_TUBE_EXTENSION and my sling is http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=243544

My question is: can this sling attach to the Vang Comp sling loop, though mine is meant to be on a swivel? If so, will this be sturdy enough or do I run the risk of the tub extension breaking off? The Remington extension comes with a barrel clamp, but is $120 and out of stock everywhere.

Look up the Scattergun Technologies 2 rd extension. Great quality, $25 less than the Vangcomp and they have one with the swivel type attachment in front.

The disadvantage of the SGT design is that you really need a clamp if you're going to do that. The sling can apply a great deal of force on the mag tube extension and you are asking for an accident that could turn the shotgun into a single-shot when the mag tube and spring leave the jurisdiction at high speed. (Arguably, you should always use a clamp, but putting the sling attachment point at the far end really changes the picture IMO.)

I use a sling with the VC arrangement you are showing with a so-called H&K clip threaded onto the sling. It clips into the attachment point and allows quick connect/disconnect.

There are a variety of aftermarket clamps available if you want one (Nordic makes two, GGG probably makes several, etc.).

I don't know anything about his products - only remembered that he was making accessories for the 870/500 group of guns. You might try calling him and asking - he probably has what you're looking for.

I looked up the Scattergun Technology extentions, what is the difference in them for left handed and right handed shooters?

I suspect it has to do with the sling mount, but that isn't clear from the pictures.
