Would it be possible to use a longer barrel on a gun with a shorter frame and slide configuration? (For example: a Glock 19 with a barrel for a Glock 17L)

I have no desire to actually try it but I am curious if it would work. Would it still cycle properly? Anyone ever try it?

I don't know about the particular combination you mention, but a member has posted that he tried a G19 barrel in a G26 and nearly locked the gun up, taking force to hand cycle and remove the slide.

With blowback combinations, in general the answer is yes. Good examples are a PPK slide on a PP frame and barrel, which works OK, and an FN Model 1922 barrel on a Model 1910. The recoil spring, of course, has to go with its slide, and sometimes small adjustments are needed.

Most such swaps on tilting barrel guns like the Glock and M1911 types won't work because the barrel angle is different.

No you can't change length barrels in most Glocks. I think you can put the longer barrel into a 17 maybe? Or maybe a 17L barrel into a 34?

But I know for certain that a 17 barrel will not work in a 19.
