OP, its pretty obvious from the responses of this thread that most are not interested in the 22lr Tavor.
Well, most in here don't seem to be, but it appears the thread has attracted the wrong crowd. I'm seeing a number of folks on YouTube that are making their own, apparently by combining various 22's with a Tavor paintball shell.
I also see the Tavor won NRA's 2014 Rifle Of The Year, so somebody outside this little group seems to be impressed with it!
As fer myself, I've been eyeballing bullpups probably for 20 years or so, but none ever quite did it for me until the Tavor. I had to wait for the price silliness to subside before finally purchasing one.
I know quite a few guys who own AR's (fellow shooters, military friends etc) and none have even expressed an interest in the original Tavor. Half of them probably wont know what a Tavor is.
We'll just have to wait for them to catch up!
I've seen it all before...I remember all the haters / naysayers when the Glock was introduced, and again when Springfield introduced the XD line.
We know how Glock turned out, and now XD's well outsell Glocks at our local shop.
I also remember how a lot of folks liked to rag on the S&W 22 AR because (insert your favorite rant here), but they also sold well. A lot of folks complained about it's lack of metal, but often the lighter weight afforded by it's construction is just what a lot of folks like (woman, kids, older folks, etc.).
I can tell by some of the knocks on the Tavor that a number of folks have never handled one, or are emotionally invested in another choice.
You know...the complaint about the weight (scales don't tell the whole story), the lousy trigger (it's a combat rifle, and I grew up on DA revolvers, so the trigger doesn't bother me).
Hopefully IWI will either produce one, or (my wish) is to have Walther produce it so it will use the same magazines as their Colt / ARX100.
I also hope IWI follows Beretta's apparent lead and requires certain things from a Walther produced 22 Tavor.
If Walther produces it, there's no reason MSRP shouldn't be around $500 (as with their Colt / ARX100), street prices will be less (after it's been out a while) and it should be substantially lighter than the .223 Tavor since it won't have the piston system.
Heck...they may have to add a little weight to the rear of a 22 in order to maintain the balance of the original.
