Would you buy Bulletproof Vest if you had the chance?

Most of us have the chance, they are illegal only in a few states.

What's the big deal? You live somewhere they are banned?

I've looked at a few over the years, just can't justify the weight for someone not in an LE role.

As they get lighter and less expensive I'd reconsider.

Bought one for when I was planning to work in armed security, which never panned out. It's heavy, bulky, and stiff, and I'm glad I never had to wear it on duty. There are a rare few circumstances where it might come in handy (barring returning to the security business), but at the moment it's just collecting dust. I probably ought to wash the carrier...

I dont see a real need personaly. Try wearing full body armor and a kevlar helmet, and you will see why its not a great choice for an HD situation. If you feel its really an asset then by all means get one but I for one dont see a real use to add all that weight. In a home defense situation you aren't likely to have enough time to strap on full battle rattle.

I have a couple. These days, I always wear one to a range where there are a lot of people, especially the indoor ranges. Unfortunately, all you need to understand why one is desirable, is to look around at the walls, ceiling, and dividers, and just stand back and watch the shooters themselves.

I also used to wear one for work during hunting season where I used to live, as I work outside and it was shotgun only. Its rifle where I live now, so a pistol vest is kind of pointless, unless you want it for warmth,(they do work well for keeping you warm) but there are a lot fewer hunters, and those that are around, arent near as knuckleheaded.

Got one, almost bought another. It was one designed for Texas Parks and Wildlife officers who use a boat. It doubled as a life jacket! Did not have the funds at the time, should have charged it though......

If I find one when I have the money I will buy it, no real need, yet, but I haven't decided on which one

Maybe if I won the lottery or something and I had a lot of money to drop on whatever I felt like, just because. Otherwise, I can't see the justification for the expense.

I don't have the money for one, nor any real need. But if I had the chance to get a decent brand, 100% woven vest for free, or for under $50, I'd probably jump on it.

I really wouldn't use one...

I might buy a bulletproof long coat (that looked like a real coat) if it was reasonably priced... something I could actually wear at least three days a year.

Nope

'Nam era flak jacket on the other hand , I wish I had.

Mine are gone, still these were used when messing with target throwers and shards of clays one is exposed to, setting up a 5 stand, or Sporting Clays range.

Another use I learned to appreciate one was being out in tornadoes and debris blowing everywhere...

Not half bad for busting brush out quail and small game hunting either...

I think that would be the strangest hanging and moving coat people would see all day :D

Seriously though, for most of us its legal to buy/own now. I'd take a free one just because but I don't see any reason to go spend hundreds of dollars on one.

Is Second Chance still in business? I'd likely only get something like that if it were comfortable. Doesn't need to be perfect - just needs to be.
That sums up second chance alright :D

At this point I dont have one but I do want one mostly just in case but right now they are more than I care to spend. However my future job as a LEO will require me to wear one while on duty.
