Would you sell your G19

I've been through several different guns, but fell in love with my G19 (3rd gen). The gun has operated flawlessly and I'm fairly accurate with it. Well about a month ago I ended up trading a Kel-tec P11 in and purchased a new G26. I got the extension for the magazine and have been to the range 3 times with it.

After about 300 rounds, I have to admit that I really like the G26 and am actually more accurate with this than the G19 (which is something I never would have expected).

I'm itching to buy a 1911 (but not sure on a full size or commander) and am wondering if I should sell of the G19. It will ease the pain from my wife regarding the purchase :banghead: , and I'm starting to feel like the G19 is redundant since I'm doing well with the G26.

Would it be stupid to get rid of the G19? It would speed up my 1911 purchase, but I really do like the gun, its just the G26 has performed better than I expected. :uhoh:

Your call, of course, but I have sold guns to fund other guns, and I have sold guns in times of financial hardship, and let me tell you: it sucks. I wish I hadn't ever gotten rid of any of the guns I own (well, there is one exception: I sold two to my dad, thereby inducting him into the ranks of Handgun Owners, and so it was for a good cause), so be aware: you will probably regret selling the G19 if you do so.

If you're pretty sure your regret will be nicely soothed by a shiny new 1911, though, you might find it worth the trade.

Glock 19's are a dime a dozen, if it makes you happy to sell it and get something else then go for it.

I've bought and sold many guns, and it's never hurt anything.

I almost agree with Ala Dan, cept I made $100 profit on the last used G19 I sold. Only sell if you will: A. get your gun money back out of it to buy more guns B. Make a profit on it to buy more guns or gunstuff.

I try to always roll my money from selling and trading back into my hobby.

Keep them both

Keep them both..the G19 needs a baby brother. I love my G19 and will be gettinga G26 for CCW. I intend to keep both.

G19's are common guns and you can find them easily if you want to get another. They are very dependable and can go through hell and back and still work.

1911's are pretty, they usually shoot very well and have a great trigger. If you are not going with a high end 1911 then I see no reason to get rid of the Glock other then money.

My personal opinion is I would keep the Glock for now, buy your 1911, if you feel it can replace your Glock then get rid of the Glock. I have 3 1911's and 3 Glocks. My 1911's go to the range with me but a Glock is always on my belt.

If there is going to be another weapons ban (and there better not be) you might want to keep the Glock and buy more mags for it. 1911's hold between 6 - 8 depending on model, Para hold more but I am not sure those are considered 1911's so you won't have any issues there.

I've had one for 5 years or so, and haven't really shot it much since I enjoy shooting and reloading for .38 Spl more. And it's definitely not good looking. But it seems to work well and I would probably be the last gun I'd consider selling.

I would never sell my G19. In fact, I ordered more mags for it which brings up my tally of eight G17 mags and four G19 mags. I use the G17 mags for training so, thed tend to get lost from time to time. I'll order a couple of more G19 mags in the up comming weeks.

Flip.

Bought my 19 in 1992. Loved it till one year ago when I picked up a CZ P-01. The Glock is now gone, and I just bought my third P-01.

I am debating between the p-01 or a glock 9mm .. I have a CZ 40P .. and I love it .. but i dunno ..

Yes, as others have said above - Glocks are a dime a dozen. I have sold every Glock I have owned. Just sold my Glock 34 to buy an AR.

You really like the G19. You fell in love with it. I have a feeling you will regret selling it later. Especially if that 1911 gives you problems and turns out to not be what you expected. Then you'll be kicking yourself for selling a perfectly good gun to pick up what turned out to be a problem child. Not saying the 1911 will turn out that way, you may love it too, but there's always the possibility. I have always regretted selling off perfectly good guns. I don't do it anymore. Now, if that G19 were giving you problems or you just simply did not like it, that would ease the separation, but absent that....

If it were me, I'd save for the 1911 and keep the G19.

no way i'd sell mine. actually i just bought my hubby one about an hour ago - and he has two 1911's. but, he said he really wanted a glock now.

As cookie cutter as Glocks may be, you always run a risk when buying something mad by people that it will not be quite right. If you already have a pistol that has proven itself as a quality performer, KEEP IT! ;)

You know, I've never had reliability w/ either my P7M8 or my G19...but what a difference in firearms. Steel vs. polygun, hi cap vs. 8 rounds...
I'm glad I have both!

Yes I would, and did.

After I got my CZ75 P01, I never really shot the G19 and it became a nightstand gun. When I wanted to acquire some more CZ75s the G19 had to go. I don't regret it, because all three of my CZs are such good shooters. I don't normally sell my guns, but in the case of the G19, if I want another there are plenty of them out there. Now, my S&W 19-5 or Model 63, or my 1947 k22, I will never willingly part will. "Til death do us part" with those three revolvers.

Luis Leon

I sold mine. They're not hard to find, it's not as if you won't be able to replace it if you suffer seller's remorse. I sold mine to finance another gun. Seems to be a lot of that going around.:)
