In this thread, I reported that the Dept of Ag had lost my CCW renewal application. I had to send in another one by certified mail on May 21. They got it on May 23. I just got my permit today, 22 days after they received my application.

Sure they lost it, but they corrected the error promptly. I take back all of the nasty thoughts I had about you.

ETA: Except they put the wrong address on it.

SLED, the state LE agency, is responsible for issuing CCW permits here in SC. They really screwed the pooch with mine.

No longer than 90 days, is what the state constitution says it takes.

Around 110 days, I got nervous, so I called SLED. Said it's in the mail.

120 days, still haven't recieved it. They said they sent it. Bull. Never had a problem with the mail before. Send it agian. So they did.

128 days, still no permit. Call again. They said it's the mail cariers fault and they won't send another one without me paying a $5 replacement fee. Bull. Raised all hell.

132 days... I get a sloppy, hand-written envelope with my card in it. That's it. just the CCW card, nothing else. No letter, no nothing.

On the other hand, my PA out-of-state license was probably the easiest. 2 weeks and like $25 IIRC to the Centre Co. Sherrif's Office, and I had my non-res permit.

62 days in a properly formatted and filled envelope. Just the License itself.

Not bad for a 120 day Police force.

Here in Texas, it's currently taking several months to get your CHL after sending in the application and payment (must be a money order - no checks). I got mine last year; 4 months. It's probably longer than that now.

Seems like a lot of new bees are still getting CCW. This is great!! Have had mine for over 35 years.

Just renewed my Ohio CCW in May. Took all of 5 days from the time
I turned in the application at our county sheriff's office till the day they called and told me I could pick up my license.

It took all but the full 90 to get mine. They send a letter that it is ready for me to pick up, but a coworker who lived in the same county applied a month after me and got it in the mail weeks before I had to go pick mine up :banghead:. Go figure, but to be honest the Sheriff was facing some federal and state charges so the coronor had to sign them.

This year,

I had to go back to the LV police Dept to get my FBI fingers reprinted again.

Luckily, I didn't have to take a number behind 50 people and went in front of the line and was out in 15 minutes (Yes, I timed it).:D

Got the CCW in a few weeks.

I sent in my Florida renewal package with a personal check, and got it in 21 days. I was suprised because they sent the renewal packet out five months in advance. I expected it the 1st of October.

Mine was about 5 days, including US mail time going both directions and processing by the agency in between.

Why would an agency require 90 or 120 days to process a piece of paperwork? Time to vote some folks out of office! Sounds like they are using your tax $$ in a very inefficient manner.
