Went to Fred Meyer today and they had one 500rd brick of .22lr American Eagle. The price? A whopping $89.99. Wow, I can sort of see the gunshow scalpers drastically raising their prices, but this is just insane/ridiculous when a big retailer does it. I left my cart and contents right there and left. I will not be going back, ever again.

That does seem high
But the market is desperate for the big box retailers to raise their prices

I am sure this thread will get locked after the 12 pager last week. But there are a few things about marketa that a lot of people need to learn. I can only hope a few have over the last few threads about this topic.

If no one buys it this week, they'll lower the price. If someone buys it, that's the right price.

Simple, really.

If you REALLY needed it, you'd have ponied up the $0.18 per shot... Maybe someone else does.

Wouldn't it be nice if ammo just cost what we wanted to pay for it? And we each had a beautiful unicorn to ride to work each day?

Yea you would think that these would be very simple concepts Sam. Or at least I used to think that.

I've quit some local gun shops over their prices recently...

Say what you want about Walmart (I personally dislike nearly everything about them and shop there sparingly), but I was there today with a friend who was buying food, and while looking at the ammo case I saw two cans of 420 XM855 on stripper clips for $199 and several boxes of WWB 9mm for $26 and some change.

The gentleman who helped me with the purchase said they hadn't raised their prices and have just recently begun having more ammo in stock. He said he was surprised the cans of 5.56 lasted the whole afternoon on a busy Saturday.

Then we joked about the 3 box ammo purchase limit and he let me purchase all 10 boxes of the 9mm and the two cans of XM855.

I'm just hoarding for the next panic...

Must be fair market value because Fred Meyers doesn't even sell ammo in my neck of the woods.

Regarding controls. While I dislike the farm bill overall, without it we would be paying 6 to 8 dollars for a gallon of milk.

YUP, "fair market pricing".

Didn't know unicorns existed.

Well a lot of people have been calling for the retailers to price there 22lr at those types of prices.

We don't do politics, and to be honest, I am sick of griping about .22 LR threads. :)
