wow, Designated Marksman in action

I'm a zoomie here. Gotta respect a Marine and his or her ability to make America's enemies wish they had not gotten up in the morning.

Good shooting!

Typically, the Medal of Honor is only given to soldiers who died in their action. There has been many examples of living Medal of Honor winners, but most were from WW2. That marksmen should certainly get a nice shiny pin of some type awarded to him.

the ak is more capable than you give it credit for. this marine was obviously making good use of cover. there is also a general lack of training with the insurgents, which accounts for the lack of accuracy.

while i believe what this young corporal did was great, i dont think it is anything near MOH territory. he did his job, he did it well. for the MOH to keep its meaning, it needs to be only awarded to individuals who go far, far above and beyond.

A couple of things:

1. No, an AK is not as inaccurate as it is sometimes made out to be

2. In issue trim, it is still not a great weapon once you get beyond 1-200 yards.

3. "Issue trim" for these guys is decidedly worse than issue trim for the Red Army, or most of the USSR's client-states.

4. Training, as was mentioned, is often lacking. Especially training at beyond-contact range.

Regardless of the debate, I say that Marine deserves our thanks and high honors.

Proof that spray-and-pray does not stand up to precision fire is always satisfying to see.

"For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."

5. Battling against U.S. Marines is a pretty certain way to attain death.

While all Marines make me proud, this young corporal is an obvious standout. Surely Silver Star worthy, and IMO, CMH worthy as well. Time will tell which he receives.
Men like this make the Marine Corps the most feared organization of military men and women in the world.
Men like this become Marine Corps legends.
Men like this inspire future Marine Corps warriors to also standout.

SEMPER FI!
