I own two Remington 870 Express 12g shotguns. I absolutely love these guns. I also shoot a Benelli M1 and a Benelli M2.

I just handled a 12g Wingmaster at a local gunstore. It was amazing how well finished and smooth this gun cyles. The handling and pointing is fantastic.

I am actually seriously considering selling my Benellis and converting completely to 870s. I could use the Wingmasters for upland game and clays. I could use the Express guns for Waterfowl.

Do you think I would regret selling the Benellis?

Will you regret not selling the Benelli guns and buying the Wingmaster anyway? I think the answer might be no, and no one ever said you can have too many guns :) If you enjoy shooting them, why get rid of them?

My thought is that if I pick a platform (pump gun) and specialize on that one style of gun, I will be a better than trying to run two different platforms.

Kind of like - "beware of the man with one gun, he will know how to shot it".

I have owned many diffrent shotguns. Nothing I have owned including
a SBE compares to my 870 wingmasters. I now own 10 of them. Seems I can buy 1960-1980's wingmasters all day long for around $250-$275 just can't beat them.

I've got two of them in 28ga which run quite a bit more but worth the money.

I do not own a benelli so I cannot tell you about the wisdom of selling them. I would purchase the Wingmaster though. I have a 1955 and a 1960 that are great.

+1

You really need to handle a 1950's-60's 870 Wingmaster to tell just how far they have sunk in todays 870 Express!

As for the Benelli?
An extra barrel for one costs more then two good pawnshop Wingmasters.
If you can even find an extra Benelli barrel.

Should you sell your Benellis?

Maybe.

Should you buy more 870s,especially old Wingmasters?

Certainly.....

Iiiiiiiiiiii dunno... both are such great guns... I own several 870's all 70's or older, and I love them, My work gun has almost as many patrol miles on it as I do... and it still functions like the day I bought it, all scratched and beat up, but it functions like butter...

Our Narcotic's unit some time back bought 5 Bennelli semi autos for breaching and raid guns, came with 11" barrel's when they came out to range to qualify, I just HAD to get my hands on them.. OH MAN... I was in LOVE.... They cycle so smooth and sooooo fast, and not bad at all in the recoil department..

Later met a guy, who I have become good friends with who is buddy buddy with a Bennelli Rep, and he is MISTER Duck and Goose Hunter, he has both the super sweet fancy grade Bennelli's and Wingmasters.. he too is torn as to which he likes better... But when he started looking for a gun for his daughter, he went for an 870 in 20Ga...

Tough call, I do both... just for the sake of not taking sides... !
