I just bought a brand new wrangler, I chose it over the LCP II 22lr. I get it home and start a cleaning before I shoot, I notice the hammer pin and the smaller pin below it can be moved back and forth with a good force of a finger. neither will go all the way out in either direction but can be pushed back and forth from flush on one side to flush on the other. Is this normal?, thanks for any help

Yes, mine does the same thing. Its slightly annoying but neither of my pins have fallen out after 1000+ rounds. They are somewhat captive in that the frame screws fit into notches in the pins, and keep them from coming completely out.

This is common. There is some slack in the retaining grooves of the hammer and trigger pins, such they can move slightly in the frame - basically as you described, shifting from flush on one side and slightly proud on the other side, to slightly proud on the first and flush on the second.

The Wrangler has the same lockwork and structural design as the Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Vaquero, and New Vaquero. The hammer pivot pin is retained by one of the bottom rear grip frame screws and the trigger pivot pin is retained by the loading gate detent spring. Neither pin will push out by finger pressure and will not walk out with use until the revolver is disassembled sufficiently - removing the specific grip frame screw to free the hammer pivot pin and then removing the grip frame entirely and depressing the loading gate detent spring to free the trigger pivot pin.

I never noticed movement in these pins in any other Ruger single action.
Looser tolerances maybe?

I bought one last month and while I have since given it away as a gift, I remember having the same experience. I wouldn't worry too much about it personally. These things are always annoying with a new gun but it's common on those and shouldn't cause any problems.
