I'm new at reloading and recently made a mistake reloading 38spl to be fired from my .357 magnum (GP100).

Since the only primers I can find are small pistol magnum, I'm sticking to starting loads. The data called for a starting load of 3.7 gr of IMR 700-X for a 125gr lead FP. I had used this load previously without problems. The last 100 cartridges I reloaded, I used the wrong charge (3 gr of IMR 700-X) from a different recipe I used for 158 gr LRN.

Should I pull the bullets or am I OK firing these reduced loads?

I will now double check data before charging.

Thanks,

Kevin

you'll be ok pressure-wise as long as you start at the bottom, but from an accuracy perspective, you are likely going to be disappointed.

to make use of those primers, you might find your best bet to be to use true magnum loads.

My Lyman's 47th shows a starting load of 2.5 grains of 700x for a 121 grain cast bullet,so I'd say your safe to shoot them if you don't want to pull them.

Thanks for the replies. I hope I can find some small pistol primers soon so I can keep these primers for magnum loads. Unfortunately most of my brass is 38spl. Again, thanks!

Just make sure they all leave the barrel before shooting another one, although you should be OK.
