WTFind? Neato AR/battlerifle Sling 10 Yrs ago...

Okay, I have looked around a bit and can't find it... A friend who has moved out of the area picked up a sling for his AR that had a semi-stiff round nylon loop part that attached to the rear sling swivel, and was long enough to slip around the back of the buttplate and end up with its far side on the stock just in front of the heel. The rest of the sling attached to the nylon loop.

In use, it would to from top-side patrol position to hanging down from the sling swivel just by bringing the rifle up to firing position. It held its shape well enough to slip back over the heel of the buttplate if you brought the rifle down with just a bit of a forward arc.

Combined with a sidemount front swivel, I liked it a LOT but was not in the market then...was starting school...again...

Anyone know what this was and if anyone still makes it?

Nope.

Take that silly two-strap abortion off the buttstock and replace it with a stiff loop that can extend from the sling swivel at the toe of the butt, OVER the entire buttplate, and then end up at the top of the stock where the sling is attaching at your photo.

No strap over the buttplate keeping the thing from sliding forward. Its forward motion is limited by the fact that it can't go any farther forward in the patrol position because it's attached to the sling swivel.

When you move the rifle from patrol to firing position, the loop (about 1/4-inch diameter, maybe less, round stiff nylon--probably has a plastic center) just slips over the buttplate and winds up hanging down from the sling swivel on the bottom of the stock.

The loop goes around both sides of the stock.

Grump, I have that sling. It is called the JFS Patrol Sling and is still sold by Bushmaster. It is a great little sling as long as you don't need to use or tuck the rifle on your weakside.

I couldn't say. My WAG would be that there are just better slings out there now even though they may not be quite as affordable.

3 points and 1 points are all the rage in the military for many years now. the only exception to this is a nylon strap atachment from the but stock to the flak, which doesn't allow any transistion. the JFS looks like it could be made out of some 550 cord and a standard issue sling

I don't see why you couldn't attach a Giles to the JFS butt-end part and have the best of all worlds.

Seeing the illustration, I also remember what I did NOT like about it--the fabric-heavy front sling swivel part. I'd lose that and go with an FS tower sidemount--it works better when I want to sling up for SHOOTING.

So, what I really want from the JFS is just the rear swivel part....
