WTH Horrible fit machining on my new Beretta Duo Tone Slide

I just picked this up today. I know Beretta has cut cost by plastic parts, but I did not know a drunk monkey was doing their CNC work. Brand new Beretta, sad. I plan to call them tomorrow. The Taurus 92 I'm selling tomorrow looks better than this by far!!!!!

Wow, send it back to BUSA with those terrific pics that tell a sad story, almost like someone took an unfinished gun and sneaked it into the paint finish dept, then covered it up with shipping tar/oil and had it shipped out NIB..

Hopefully, they'll figure out who was in charge of that gun ID run, and deal with them accordingly, meanwhile, they will ship you a new, clean, "finished" quality gun like 99% of the other Beretta owners got and paid for..

Wow, looks like the cutter on the CNC equipment was way past it's useful service life. What's up with Berettas QA/QC?

This what I like about the members on THR, many purchasers would not have paid attention, or known any better, but hawkeye's like Sure Thing does no better.

Please let us know what you do and how it goes, this just ain't right. Great pics.
 
If tools marks & such like that bother you that badly, why did you accept it in the first place?

Did you not inspect it at all before you left with it?

I would not imply that you saw these things and immediately had thoughts of posting pics on the web, but seriously, why did you even leave the store with it?
 
Thats how I half expected my CZ75 to look inside, after hearing how crude the machiene work was on them, but everything looked good. Hope they give you a new gun!
 
Update:

I called the seller, who said he would take it back and issue a full refund and pay for the shipping back.

I also spoke with Beretta, who was shocked and wanted me to send it in. I asked if they would send me a call tag, but have not hear back on that matter. I"m not going to pay for shipping, I will tell you that.

So far the seller and Beretta have been GREAT!F

Also the slide says stainless in the front of it, just under the muzzle, so it is not refinish job, but a NIB 2 tone.

Same guy must have made the new SIG 229 my buddy just bought about a month ago.

They could be twins.

I actually cut myself on a slide bur while running my finger over it see if it was as rough as it looked like it was!

I'm disapointed this happened. But is a chance for Beretta to shine! I will keep everyone posted.
 
Sounds like the two other involved parties are doing the right thing, remain patient because it definitely looks like they will pull through and either make your pistol excellent or give you an identical pistol made properly. Who knows, they might even toss in some goodies.

After last weekend's State Marsmanship Matches, where I fired a Beretta for the first time, I am becoming more and more enamored of them. I took home a few awards in the Novice class by the way, with a pistol I had never used. I think that's pretty decent.
 
I received my Witness Elite Limited with issues in the finish. The dealer wouldn't do anything (and of course I don't purchase from him anymore....out of state store) but EAA made it right. It took EAA about 6 months (had to wait on the importation of more Limiteds) but they sent me a new pristine gun with all the mags, extra springs, etc even though all I sent them was the gun. Below is what mine looked like. I had the same thing happen with a SIG X-Five and SIG refinished it and sent it back to me. And that gun cost even more than the Witness. So it happens..........just seems to be happening a lot lately!!! I would expect Beretta USA to make it right but it is so very disappointing to get something that should never have left the factory!!!! Sorry for your troubles

Some time back, when Colt was having contract problems with their labor force, a lot of really poorly made products left the factory. I bought a new stainless Colt Officers Model that never should have made it past any conscientious QC inspector. Numerous tool marks; uneven and wavy lines on all the contoured portions of the frame and slide; the slide being an 1/8" off of the back of the frame; the rear sight unevenly placed in its rear dovetail; etc. Fortunately, since it was stainless I could reasonably correct most of the cosmetic flaws, and with a little more effort, fix the fit and function portion of this unworthy of the name Colt pistol. Learned my lesson; check, double check, even triple check everything before I lay down my cash for a gun.

You know guys, we have just witnessed some top name "quality" gun companies who have put out some real crappy looking guns. There is no excuse for it, but also lets keep this in mind the next time some one comes on a forum and hammers a gun that you own and like and might feel like he is just "trolling". We can joke about the above guns being made on Friday or Monday morning , or labor issues yadda yadda but when it happens to you it is not funny and excuses are just that "excuses".Isn't just with guns either. A shame though. I have bought many guns in shops and never torn one down to look for flaws. Guess I had better start asking to do that though..
 
Update!


Here is the update so far.

I called and was told to send it in. I then emailed customer service back to get a call tag, and he said the gun smith area would have to do that and they would be in contact with me. I waited a few days and called back. Spoke with a lady who said to send it in and they would reimburse my shipping. With a letter if the issue, and receipt.

So that is where it stands. Here is another pic of it.

When I look at the first picture you send in your OP, there is a kind of chipping, just in front of the right safety lever, which reminds me a kind of coating job applied to the slide, but I am not sure of course. And the color of the surface also does not seems like stainless. Also the tone difference between the barrel and the slide made me suspicious about the stainless claim of the manufacturer since all of the stainless Berettas I have seen and shot had an exact color match between the slide and the barrel. The photos may be misleading due to the light conditions, but that's my just 0.02$.
 
Just as an update. Beretta told me to ship it back and they would reimburse my shipping. I called to see what was going on because I had not heard anything,and they are going to replace the slide. I will let you know when all comes in and is well.
 
BTW, the "plastic parts" you speak of aren't plastic. They are steel with an applied coating.
