WWI Trench Shotgun Working Replica

The '97 has to be one of the best looking "Social" use shotguns made. In the trench gun configuration it has to be one of the safest riot guns with its exposed hammer, it "is" or it "isn't" cocked, no guessing. I shot expert with mine when I took the NRA Security Firearms Instructor class back in '82, they thought I was kidding when I brought it out.
 
I got a winchester 1897 shotgun, I belive its a trench gun, or a sport model of it prob. It was my grandpa's and i still use it once and a while. Im told they are worth nothing.
 
Worth nothing saskboy? They're desirable by the Cowboy Action Shooter crowd. Besides, the '97 is one gun that you can fanfire (hold the trigger down and it'll fire as fast as you can pump it).
 
I read in a gun mag some years ago that the Germans threatened to execute any Allied soldier that they managed to capture with one. I don't know if they did or not. The 97 was that effective and quite feared at close range.

The local gun shop told me they part them out because they are worthless. I love my 97 and would never dream of selling it, just asked them what its worth and they said nothing thats all
 
Any good condition 97 is worth $450. I have one marked S.P. Sacto, CA. It's an old Southern Pacific gun and documented. It's worth over $1500. Actual government trench guns with all the proper markings, handguard and bayonet will bring $2000 - $4000. Any of you who want to get rid of yours for little, or no money, pm me. (Keep it, it's a great gun.)

Sounds like they are either ignorant(unlikely in my opinion) or they are trying to cheat your out of your gun. Either way its time to find a new store to frequent.
 
Ya I think the guys at this store are prob just a$$holes, its not a trench model its the sports model of it. No bayonette or anything like that :(

that is true. they said that it was an "unfair weapond". i do not know if they followed up on their promise.
 
I bought a Norinco 1897 Trench Gun about a year ago and I love it. Its unique and its a great shooter. I like the manual of arms with it and its tough looking too. I haven't found a real downside to it yet.

BTW: It was NIB for 225 bucks. It had a slight scratch on the stock but I didn't even notice it until I was taking pictures of it later and it showed up under the flash.
