Back in my home country I found in an old shed few German rifles in there original can casings and all the papers. I was wondering are they worth anything as far as selling them? I mostly own new stuff so had no interest in old guns.

I'm sure they would be quite valuable to collectors with all the original packing & papers.

The problem might be, where is your home country?

Importing them into the U.S. might be near impossible, and cost more then they are worth here.

No clue about the weapons import / export laws there, or much about it here.

But I think you might have problems doing it from Croatia.

I agree, I have looked into it for a few rifles that I would have liked...but too expensive...though I don't know about Croatia, I would say that it is worth checking into but will likely be too expensive. If so I would sell them in Europe, even some Europeans like guns. :)

In any case, it would be cool to see some pictures to help identify what you have - if that is possible.

I have no real idea for sure but maybe a small number of rifles you own could be transported as your personal property. I would not mention plans to sell them once they are here. Not sure who to ask other than maybe the ATF and my experience has been that glaciers move faster than they do in responding to questions.

Yes, assuming they are in like new condition with original materials present serious Mauser collectors would throw money at you for them. Need to avoid import stampings, though.

Glaciers don't answer questions. :neener: Of course neither does the ATF in my experience. Asked them a question regarding importation of a gun a couple of years ago and never received a response.

There are US companies who will arrange for importation of individual firearms... for money.

The question is, are those rifles of enough value to be worth it. I would want them to be of uncommon models in very nice condition to try it.

Get yourself a licensed Customs Broker in the U.S. A good broker can tell you right off if it's possible. I've been out of the business far too long. Don't know the "atmosphere" with BATFE which is your major hurtle. BATFE Form 6 is what you need.
