Anybody check these out yet? Seems like a really nice improvement over the standard XD which seemed overdue for an upgrade. The sights are a nice touch..

I wonder what's in store for the XDM line now...

I checked one out at a LGS a couple of weeks ago. Very nice gun, nice upgrades but with my hands using my thumbs forward grip I wasn't keeping the grip safety fully engaged all of the time and as a result at times could not pull the trigger. I don't have this trouble with my XD45 Service model. I almost bought the gun until I tried to dry fire it and realized the problem I was having with the grip safety.

I have one. Ergonomics are greatly improved over the original XD from my perspective. Grip fits the hand well for me. FO sights are big and easy to acquire.

Trigger feel is mostly the same though. I wish they would have upgraded the trigger to be more in line with some of the newer striker fired guns on the market. I guess if they had it would cannibalized XDm sales.

I kinda wonder what's next for the XDM line. It's as tired and bland as the XDs were getting.

I've been looking at the XD Mod 2 since it came out. I decided to finally pull the trigger (pun intended) on buying one. I prefer the 9mm over the 40. And until the end of December, Springfield is throwing in a lot of goodies.

The pistol comes with a 13 and 16 round magazines. DUAL Mag holder. Holster. Speed Loader. and cleaning brush, and all in a nice case. PLUS.... If you buy before December 31st, they will send you for free, 2 more magazines, an additional 2 mag holder, and a 2 pistol range bag. Definitely worth around $100. So, for $500 +/- depending where you buy it, 4 magazines, 2 dual mag holders, a speed loader, holster cleaning brush, 2 pistol range bag, and of course the pistol. Not a bad deal.

As for shooting it, I've only had a chance to throw about 100 rounds through it so far. Enough to know I really like how it shoots. Very accurate. Feels good in the hands. Smooth. No failures in chambering, firing, or ejecting. Is it my favorite gun in the world? Probably not. Nothing can ever beat my Sig Sauer P220 (West germany). But that's not a very practical concealed carry. The XD mod 2 is big enough for my meat hook hands; can hold 13+1 (I don't carry with the 16+1), and depending on which pants I have, I can even carry it in my pocket without a holster. So all and all, it's a great weapon.

I have the two tone "service" or 4" full size model on order. Had to order online as every local shop sold theirs as fast as they came in with the mag promotion...which is ultimately what sold me on it.

I bought a Mod 2 45 Subcompact. Love it, 9 & 13 rd. mags. I can shoot it better than my XDS. Thinking on selling the XDS and buying a SA R.O. in 9mm.
