Is anyone having issues with the XD/XDM speed loader that comes with the NIB pistols? My Son just bought 2 new .40's, 1 is an XDM, and the other for his lady is an XD. But over the Christmas holiday my Son showed me the rounds he loaded into the 4 clips, and most of them had a very deep pressure dent on the contact side of each round where the heads/rims are being pushed into the cases during loading. It doesn't happen when loading the clips manually, so I know it's happening while using the speed loader. Being that I've never used one of those clip loaders, I don't know if there is a way to reduce the degree of pressure created against each round at the top of the mag..
Thanks, GS

I can see it happenning due to the geometry of the loader; a small block of plastic (polymer) forcing the cartidge downward. The UPLULA thing I have has a greater contact area and I haven't noticed any damage at all.

The dent really don't hurt anything as they will be gone when you shoot them.

But I think the mags will get much easier to load after the new springs take a set from use.

Glock mags for instance are almost impossible to get the last cartridge in until they have been used a while.

And speaking of Glock.
I would rather have had a loader that dented cases then the one that came with my Glock 23

The first time I tried to use it, it folded double and I tore my thumbnail off on the mag feed lip!
Needless to say, it went in the trash can after I stopped the bleeding.

So far, I have managed to load pistol mags for about 50 years without using a mag loader.
Only time I got ever got hurt loading a mag was the first & last time I tried to use a mag loader.

If I just had to have one?
I'd buy an UpLula.

I've noticed this with both my Springfield loader and my any-gun loader. Bullets shoot fine.
