XD Sub:Good Idea to get longer barrel?

I really don't know the consequences of this question. I was considering the idea of getting an after market barrel for my xd sub-compact. I assume that the longer barrels from the 4" and 5" xds will also fit in the sub. What are the pros and cons?

If you recommend this action, then could you give me more specifics; such as barrel manufacturer or specific lengths?

A longer barrel on the same length slide will do little more than protrude past the end of the slide and look funny. Since the sights are still on the slide, it will not increase your sight radius.

I understand sight radius. I have seen other auto's that had barrels that extended past the slide, I assumed that they were for bullet accuracy and velocity.

I'm sure you could get one made or find one if with luck, and I would say that it's a good idea if you're looking to increase bullet energy. I know guys with G20s that still enjoy a protruding barrel just for that bit more.

The nice thing is the option to swap it. The long-barreled sub-compact might function well as a more potent vehicle weapon, and easily be carried with a barrel swap.

The 9mm does do more out of a 5 or 6" barrel than a 3 or 3.5"
