Just bought a used, full size XD45. It has an aftermarket trigger parts group and recoil spring assembly. The trigger has minimal take up, decent creep, and crisp break. I'm a long time performance 1911 shooter and self proclaimed "trigger snob" and this XD trigger is way better than any other striker fired gun I've shot.
The problem is about every 5 shots or so the firing pin stays projected through the bolt face, stopping the next round from feeding.
Question: Could these aftermarket parts be causing this? Or just a sticky firing pin?
It's my new truck gun and I need it 100% reliable.
Thanks, Jim

It is normal for the pin the stick out during most of the stroke of the slide with striker designs. Spring pressure keeps it forward until just before the slide returns to battery. At that time the sear catches it and holds it stationary while the slide continues forward. Maybe the last half inch or so?

If your striker pin was protruding when it shouldn't, I would expect the trigger to fail to reset as well.

Edit: I dont have first hand experience with XDs in particular, but thats the way other striker guns work that I have dealt with. I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Glad you found your issue. This is a common problem caused by repeated dryfiring XD/XDm pistols. Contact Springfield and they will send you a couple of spares. I would not try to fashion a solid pin to replace what was in there. The factory rolled pin was designed to do what it did.
Powder River also makes aftermarket pins that are a bit stronger but cost a lot for what they are.
