I finally got my new gun to the range. I fired a total of 240 rounds without any problems. Recoil was minimal and very controllable. For once in my life it was nice to have smaller hands. THe gun fits me like a glove just like the XD 40. I was all over the target at first but as my range session went on I got my groups down and started to really have fun. Fired 40 rounds of Gold Dot with no problems and a 2 boxes of WalMart Value Pack Winchester. Right now I am carrying in a pocket holster but am looking to go IWB. Anybody know of any holsters? Thanks and good shooting.

i saw an XD40 today, very nice. people here commented that there's some finish issue, not exactly sure what their problems are. i saw some barrel wear on that XD i saw even though it's new?

Would you recommend the XD?

Glad you like the XD sub! I love mine ...

As far as holsters go, FIST makes all of their holsters for the XD9 sub (they call it the XD9 Compact). See http://www.gunnersalley.com, the dealer I got mine from. They have great service and cheaper prices than buying direct from FIST.

I got a #1 clip-on IWB in leather with a forward cant, with a slide guard and tension screw. They offer all sorts of options on their holsters, and they're all available in your choice of thin Kydex or leather.

Check out www.hs2000talk.com also for other people's holster choices. There are quite a few threads in the Accessories forum there on holsters.

As far as the finish goes, it is apparently not as durable as Glock's tenifer finish, and will wear off. Some people recommend against Kydex for this reason, and others are choosing to have their slides hard-chromed, etc. I've only had mine for a few weeks, so haven't come to any conclusions yet. Plenty of threads about finish issues if you do a search on hs2000talk, though (at the link above).

Welcome aboard! It's a great gun.

Regards,
Liam
