I have a Springfield XDM 5.25 in 9mm that developed a hairline crack on the breech face...twice.
Looking at the breech face the crack is around the 5 o'clock position

The edge where the crack originates from looks beveled but it is not beveled.
-Has anyone else out there seen or heard of XDM pistols developing breech face cracks?
I have 2 XDM 5.25 models, one is in .45 auto and the other in 9mm Luger.
Its the 9mm that is giving me trouble.
Yes, I do handload. I load to medium power,
115gr FMJ 4.6gr. to 4.7gr. Titegroup at 1.140 OAL
124gr FMJ 4.3gr. Titegroup at 1.145 OAL.
I also shoot these loads in an old S&W Model 39 and a Glock 19 with no problem.

This last time I sent the pistol to Springfield Armory for warranty repair I included a note telling them there was crack on the breech face and with this being the 2nd time this has happened I asked them what was causing this? They did not respond to that question.
Springfield has fixed the crack problem/symptom both times by simply installing a new slides no questions asked. Their customer service has been excellent.

Another fellow told me about a Springfield XD that the slide fell apart. They must be using bad metal or are not properly heat treated.
