I'm torn between the two... I like the fact that the XD can use the 17 round mag or the carry mag...

Never shot an xd but i have a sr9c and its amazingly accurate and small! its slimmer than my 1911, easily concealed. Shoot em both and try for yourself, i fell in love with the ruger the second i touched it.

To each their own

MOPAR,

I would try both at a range and go with the one that scores the highest and feels the best. Gun preference is based on feel, recoil perception, trigger, sights and looks as well as reliability, accuracy and firepower.

Both have good reviews and reputations. I have a SPRINGFIELD XD and think it is great. I have not shot the RUGER yet, so my opinions would be biased.

I would just try both and then choose. Both are good guns.

Why not fair? I own an XD .40.... but it's too large to carry in the summer..

The XDm Compact is definitely a step up from the SR9c. No mag safety and a less obtrusive loaded chamber indicator. 3 interchangeable backstraps and don't forget about the Match grade barrel. The XDm Compact is in a league of its own IMO.;)

XDM COMPACT!!!! Its a great gun, and I am selling one as well!!! With 5 mags, and its bi-tone...

try the 740 slim, I just picked one up, 19 ozs, and 7/8 wide, not bad for a 40.

Between the SA XDm and the Ruger SR9c, I would say go with the SR9c. It's got a better trigger, easily aquired sights, decent accuracy, great ergonomics, and is very easy to conceal.

I can say this about the XDm when using the hi cap 19 round mags....

Heavy, not as heavy as some guns, but for a compact it is a lot of weight when compared to other options. It is a great firearm, down right awesome, but I would step away from the hi cap mag in the summer.

I'm a fan of both of the handguns in this discussion. The XDs have always intrigued me. Shot one once and liked it. The XDm sounds appealing because of the match grade barrel.

Also I know that Springfield has a lifetime warranty on their products, not sure about Ruger. I know Ruger takes good care of their customers, just never found an expressed written warranty...not like you're really all that concerned about that sort of thing when you are thinking of concealed carry though.

My vote is for the XDm, good luck with your choice!

I own and carry a SR9c. Love it, shoots very well and I love the grip angle - it comes right up on target. The mag disconnect is very easily removed and the loaded chamber indicator is a great tactile check that you are ready to carry. Both SR9 and SR9c has a reversible backstrap as well, flat or raised.
